SMS Information

SnowBear is a product of LUMOS WORKS AI, INC. This page explains how SnowBear uses SMS messaging, who the sender is, and how you can control your messaging preferences.

What SnowBear texts are for

SnowBear uses SMS to send a one-time verification code when someone signs up on snowbear.ai, notify waitlist members when access becomes available, support onboarding, send login verification codes, provide requested task updates, and reply to users interacting with the SnowBear AI assistant by text.

Who the sender is

All SMS messages are sent by SnowBear, a product of LUMOS WORKS AI, INC. One-time verification codes for signing up on snowbear.ai come from SnowBear's toll-free number. Conversations with the SnowBear AI assistant, including onboarding, login codes and task updates, come from a dedicated SnowBear phone number.

How to opt in

Users opt in on SnowBear's public website at https://www.snowbear.ai in one of two ways.

  • Sign up with a mobile number. The user enters their own mobile number in the sign-up form and taps Continue. Directly below the button, the form states that continuing with a mobile number means agreeing to receive SMS verification codes from SnowBear. It specifies one message per request, that message and data rates may apply, and to reply HELP for help or STOP to cancel. The Terms of Service and Privacy Policy are linked at the same point. SnowBear then texts that number one verification code from its toll-free number, and that text says to reply STOP to opt out and HELP for help. Each code is sent only because the user asked for it on the site.
  • Text SnowBear first. The user chooses "Text" in the Sign up dialog, which opens their own messaging app (or shows a QR code that opens it on their phone) with a first text to SnowBear, a product of LUMOS WORKS AI, INC., already written. Nothing is sent until the user presses send; that first user-initiated text is the opt-in. The dialog states that message and data rates may apply, that users can reply STOP to opt out and HELP for help, and that starting a thread signifies agreement to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, both of which are linked from the dialog.

Apart from verification codes a user requests on the site, SnowBear never texts a number that has not messaged it first. After texting SnowBear, users may receive onboarding messages, login verification codes, requested task updates, and replies from the SnowBear AI assistant. Consent records (the sign-up request or first inbound message, with its timestamp) are stored by SnowBear.
